To promote balance and fairness in government and elections
We deserve government and elections we can trust. But special interests and hidden spending dominate our elections, and too often no one checks the receipts.
Alaska has some of the strongest disclosure laws in the country on paper. In practice, those laws only work when someone reads the filings, compares them against the underlying records, and takes the discrepancies to the agency charged with enforcement. That is the gap the Alaska Accountability Project fills.
Freedom is at the core of Alaskan life, transparency is essential to good government, and interference is weighing down our elections. Those three convictions drive everything we do.

Kelly Tshibaka leads the Alaska Accountability Project's effort to bring documentation and enforcement back into Alaska's political process. Under her direction the organization pursues records reviews, files complaints with the Alaska Public Offices Commission, and publishes what it finds so Alaskans can judge for themselves.
What we stand for
Our standards
The law applies to everyone
Alaska's campaign finance laws exist so voters can see who is behind political spending. Those rules are only real if someone enforces them.
Alaskans first
Our elections should be decided by Alaskans. Out-of-state money routed through intermediaries drowns out the people who actually live here.
Nonpartisan standards
We apply the same standard to every campaign, committee, and independent expenditure group we examine, regardless of party or position.
